Bleeding Gums and Gum Disease

One of the most common problems people experience with their mouths is bleeding gums. This usually light bleeding is a sign of stress in the gum tissue and could indicate gum disease starting to take hold in your mouth. This could be a minor problem that is easily corrected or an indicator of major difficulties for the mouth or the entire body. The diagnosis or cause for bleeding gums is confused by the many possible causal factors.

Gum disease acts to irritate and inflame the gum tissues in the beginning but can do more damage in advanced stages. The most common problem is gingivitis where the gums near the bottoms of the teeth are irritated. If the teeth are not cleaned well and regularly of food particles and stuff then plaque will form on the teeth.

The bacteria are the basic elements of the gum disease gingivitis because they multiply rapidly and irritate the gum tissue. The irritation will cause swelling of the tissues and a change of color from healthy pink to angry red. Minor gum bleeding is a normal symptom and often seen during flossing activities near the base of the teeth.

Gingivitis is not a painful gum disease and can be cured usually be a good cleaning either at home or by the dentist. Mouthwash can fight the growth of the bacteria associated with the disease with alcohol or other antibiotic type ingredients. The daily rinsing of a mouth with these agents can reduce the bacteria growth to normal levels in a few days. If the action is combined with flossing the effects are very rapid.

The treatment for this gum disease is very much the same actions that can prevent it to start with. Daily use of the toothbrush is the easiest and first step towards preventing problems. The action of the toothbrush cleans food particles out of the mouth and disrupts the formation of plaque on the teeth surfaces. The plaque will try to reform every 10 to 12 hours so repeated brushing activity is required. This is the basis of the usual mantra to brush in the morning and again at night.

Another tool for gum disease prevention is flossing. Flossing is able to get directly at the connections between the teeth and gums where bacteria like to hide. The flossing action helps move the bacteria into the open mouth for removal. Flossing will also serve to show signs of bleeding gums earlier as a warning of gum inflammation.

Mouthwash is useful against gum disease by helping to control the growth of bacteria. Mouthwash is often created to fight bad breath and thus likes to eliminate bacteria in general from the mouth. Alcohol or other antiseptic agents are often used.

But best of them all, there is ORAMD. ORAMD is the first all natural, highly effective dental care product created for total teeth and gum health, as well as overall dental hygiene. I have used this personally and I totally recommend it to everyone concerned about their oral health.
